In the hall of honor of the Palace of the Sardinian Kings, the winners of the 10th edition of the health projects of the Departmental Council received their awards amidst applause from a large audience.

A total of 18 projects were selected by a jury chaired by Professor Barbara Demeinex, a prominent specialist in the links between health and the environment.

The amount of aid allocated is nearly 1.5 million euros, which is about a quarter of the total investment required by these projects for their sponsors.

Since the beginning, this initiative, originally launched by Professor Daniel Benchimol, a former general counselor and dean of the UNS Faculty of Medicine, now honorary president of the scientific committee, has financed more than 200 projects, 205 to be exact, for a total sum of 28.5 million euros.

“Thanks to these projects,” Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy recalled in his speech, “the medical and research community of the Azure region as a whole is becoming increasingly effective and renowned.”

Despite budgetary difficulties, the president of the Departmental Council assured that “the department will continue relentlessly to develop healthcare services and promote innovation.”

Regarding the 2018 edition, the awarded projects focus on the themes of cancer screening and treatment (11 projects), neuro-degenerative diseases and disability (2 projects), digital health technologies (4 projects), and the understanding of the impact of the environment on health.
