Aware of the role it can play in young people’s success, especially for those facing family, social, or academic challenges, the Department and the BNP Paribas Foundation have renewed this year the agreement that allows the Jules Romains (Nice), Jean Giono (Nice), and Langevin (Carros) colleges to benefit from chess initiation workshops provided by the Échiquier Niçois association.

As part of this project, the students attend workshops organized for 2 hours per week over 15 weeks (a total of 30 hours). To reward their involvement, an inter-school tournament has been held every year since the initiative was launched in 2013.

Through this initiative, the goal is to offer young people an additional tool for success, potentially having a lasting impact on their academic work (better concentration, time management, ability to overcome challenges…).
