The Azurean students against AIDS with slogans

Latest News

It goes without saying how important it is to maintain and develop prevention among young people through information and awareness.

While students are generally well-informed about modes of transmission and prevention methods, it is also known that risk-taking is common. A survey by the PACA Regional Health Observatory (ORS PACA) among first-year students enrolled at universities in the PACA region shows that more than 70% of students reported having had sexual relations in the past 12 months. Among students who had sexual encounters with casual partners, 19% of boys and 31% of girls reported not always using a condom. The disparity between girls and boys suggests that the former face difficulties in negotiating condom use.

To raise awareness among the students of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, CRIPS PACA chose to involve them, through a slogan contest, in communication about AIDS prevention.

This slogan contest for designing condom packets aims to get students thinking about AIDS prevention, allowing them to internalize the information so they can produce their own messages.

Because messages for young people are often more effective when they are designed by young people themselves, the 10,000 condom packets produced will help to raise awareness among other students and encourage them to adopt preventative behaviors. The slogans from the contest incorporate the language of the youth and their own modes of communication.

Outcome of the initiative:

– Information and prevention stands on all the campuses of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis during the month of November: 3,000 students visited these stands, which were manned by prevention professionals and voluntary students, and were able to benefit from brochures, condoms, and tailored information.

– Numerous debates about AIDS prevention were initiated in cafeterias under the pretext of finding a slogan.

– 250 students submitted a slogan in the contest.

– Five slogans were selected by the jury, professionally designed, and used to illustrate the 10,000 condom packets published by CRIPS PACA.

– 10,000 condoms with the logos of the University of Nice, CROUS, and our partners will be made available to students. These 10,000 condoms, branded with the colors of the University of Nice and featuring messages from its students, are an additional element to help students embrace the means of prevention.
