The Bank of France significantly revised upward its forecast for French economic growth in the second quarter on Wednesday, to around +1%, compared to a previous +0.5%, estimating that the lifting of health restrictions had allowed a more substantial rebound in activity than anticipated.
The central bank maintained its growth forecast for the entire year 2021 at 5.75%, considering the French economy to be quite resilient in the face of a possible fourth wave of the epidemic.
The European Commission also raised its growth forecast for France on Wednesday to 6% for 2021, as did Insee last week.
The French government, for its part, remains with a forecast of 5% at this stage.
