What could be more appropriate than the Bellanda Tower to gather the words of this privileged witness that is Castle Hill? Reminding us of the former Saint-Elme tower of the citadel with its presence, this building, which was also a hotel and a naval museum, now houses Le Bellandarium.
Le Bellandarium, a cultural space of over 200 m², was inaugurated yesterday afternoon after renovation.
Located in the Bellanda Tower (hence its name), a scenography of 37 characters illustrates 7 major historical periods of Nice, from antiquity to the present day. Starting from mannequins dressed in reconstructed historical costumes, the men and women who lived on this hill, sometimes anonymous actors, sometimes famous ones who shaped our city.
Each of the costumes was reproduced identically by an independent workshop based on documents preserved in the Turin Archives.
Visibly pleased to be able to include this achievement in his inventory before the municipal election campaign, Christian Estrosi expressed himself as follows: “The creation of the Bellandarium fully participates in the project of landscaping and restoration of Castle Hill and our commitment to promoting the heritage of Nice.”
