For Monsignor Louis Sankalé: “In a state governed by the rule of law, civility and respect for individuals are never negotiable. ‘Welcoming different people’ was one of the convictions expressed by the recent Synod of the Catholic Church of the Alpes-Maritimes.”
STATEMENT FROM
MONSIGNOR LOUIS SANKALÉ, BISHOP OF NICE
To continue: “The assault suffered in Nice by a homosexual couple, if confirmed, constitutes in our eyes a reprehensible act that we denounce with the utmost firmness.
Without prejudging the conclusions of the ongoing investigation, nothing can justify such actions. We condemn any physical or verbal violence, regardless of the reason and the victim.
The serious issues that are currently engaging minds, along with the risks of tensions linked to the crisis we are experiencing, impose on everyone the imperative duty to pray, to inform oneself, to reflect, to argue respectfully, and to act according to one’s conscience.”
