The historic munition discovered submerged 12 meters underwater, approximately 50 meters from the beach east of the Promenade des Anglais, will be destroyed tomorrow morning during a neutralization operation taking place from 6:30 AM until mid-morning, announced the Maritime Prefecture.
The maritime prefecture will move the munition 1.4 nautical miles (about 2600 meters) and then destroy the device, which will remain submerged throughout the operation.
As a safety measure, vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be prohibited within a 300-meter radius on either side of the munition. Consequently, no vehicles or pedestrians will be allowed to circulate from Place Guynemer to Avenue des Phocรฉens. A detour will be set up.
