From June 13 to 15, Nice will host its traditional Book Festival. Once again, there will be an exceptional lineup with a multitude of authors, dozens of debates, and many other events.
This weekend’s program includes numerous activities such as book signings, debates, meetings with authors, events, and readings.
The festivities will take place at the Palais de Justice square, Pierre Gautier square, and on the Quai des États-Unis.
With novelists, essayists, poets, and polemicists, over 200 writers will be present during these three days.
The year 2014 marks the 70th anniversary of the Allies’ landing during World War II and the centenary of the Great War, so the festival will naturally revisit this historical period through the theme: “Sacred 20th Century.” Particular emphasis will be placed on the evolution of sciences, society, history, and the arts during this period. This special edition will be presided over by the sociologist and philosopher Edgar Morin.
Apart from the fair, the “Nice Baie des Anges” prize will be awarded for the nineteenth time to a novel published in the twelve months preceding the festival. This year, eight novels have been selected by the jury members, chaired by Franz-Olivier Giesbert.
And it is Sylvain Tesson who emerged as the grand winner of the competition, with his book “The Art of Patience” (Gallimard edition). He succeeds Valérie Tong Cuong and her book “The Workshop of Miracles” (JC Lattès edition). The prize will be awarded by Christian Estrosi on Friday starting at 2:30 PM at the Authors’ Forum.
