“The Breath of Life”: a film tribute to the victims of the Nice attack

Latest News

The Depardieu Gallery in Nice screened a short film this Thursday, July 13, combining documentary and dance, about the attack on the previous July 14. It’s a way to grieve, without forgetting.

The project holds much significance for the film team. The dancers Federica Fratagnoli and Esteban Peña Villagran, who perform the piece, were present during the tragedy. They lacked the words to express what they had experienced, so they used their art as a means of expression, performing in front of the Verdure Theater’s kiosk, which long served as a memorial.

The director, Silvia Paggi, gave them the opportunity to express their emotions about the attack through dance. An Indian dance, slow and with developed movements, as a sign of resistance against the violence.

Thanks to this film, they were able to free themselves from a trauma. Through this act, they wish to pay tribute differently to the victims and their families.
