For three days, the Miramar space in Cannes hosted various speakers to discuss the theme of the human being today and in the years to come.
This Saturday, the afternoon was dedicated to geo-economics as well as new forms of work in society. Paul Jorion, a renowned economist, was part of the panel alongside Nicolas Baverez, essayist and lawyer. The two men notably discussed the state of the global economy and the very current debate on growth. Paul Jorion expressed his skepticism about GDP, which he believes should be coupled with other measures to provide a true overview of a country’s health.
Both intellectuals shared their views on the situation in China, currently the only power that could potentially take over world leadership and surpass the West.
The second debate focused on the notion of work and its evolution in society, closely linked to the development of digital technology and new professions that will replace others.
