After the eviction of a 98-year-old woman and her 64-year-old daughter, who had fallen behind on rent payments, by the police, the High Committee for the Housing of Disadvantaged Persons (HCLPD) expressed outrage at this lack of discernment given the particular situation of this lady.
Similarly, the mayor of Nice intervened to offer a temporary solution and promote the allocation of social housing. Patrick Allemand also spoke out.
But, since the court’s decision dates back to July 30th, we must wonder where all these last-minute rescuers were: Wouldn’t it have been better to solve the problem before it reached this point?

For Christian Estrosi: “I am shocked by the lack of humanity with which the CARLETTI ladies were treated yesterday during their eviction. I particularly think of Yvette CARLETTI, aged over 98, who was brutally separated from her daughter.
Thus, as of this morning, a place is being made available for Madame Yvette Carletti at the veterans’ retirement home on Rue des Orangers, and a place is also being offered to Madame Linda Carletti at the Gambetta housing center.

Patrick Allemand also expressed: “The use of public force to evict a 98-year-old person and her daughter is unacceptable if it is done without a rehousing solution. One can imagine the trauma for a person that elderly who is actually hospitalized. I urge the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes to urgently find a solution within his priority contingent.”
The secretary of the PS06 Federation and president of the opposition group at the Municipal Council took the opportunity to criticize the municipality’s strategy in the real estate sector: “This exceptional and outrageous situation is a result of the Nice housing crisis which continues to worsen.”
