Saturday evening at the Salle Leyrit in Nice, the women of Cavigal Nice Basket 06 perfectly began their match against Graffenstaden. An ideal start to the game where the local players stunned their opponents with three-pointers (4/7 at the end of the 1st quarter). Result: 53 – 26 at halftime for Nice and any suspense was eliminated. Well led by Gauthier and Decker, CNB 06 managed to maintain their lead throughout the rest of the match to easily win 92 to 69.
A home victory appreciated by coach Olga Tarasenko: “Our goal moving forward is to always win here. We had a great first half, they let us shoot from the outside and we showed them our accuracy from three points. In defense, we knew how to close the zone to counter their very good interior players. We could have conceded a few less points, but it remains a very good match. Now we are going to try to win a bit away from home.”

A Club in Full Renewal
Cavigal Nice Basket 06 was born this year. It is the result and realization of an agreement created last year between Nice Cavigal Olympic and Nice Côte d’Azur Basket. The goal is simple and desired by the mayor of Nice, as explained by the club president, Laurence Laporte Darcourt: “The idea is to unite basketball in Nice by merging the two major clubs with the support of the city hall. We wanted to clean up the financial part to create solid foundations. From there we will be able to work calmly over the next three years to try to reach the national elite in women’s basketball. We have more than 400 members, making it one of the largest clubs in France. Thanks to our values of inclusion and training, we want to establish ourselves for the long term.”
