A historic club founded in 1943, Cavigal was born from the merger of three clubs from Nice: AS Casino, Victorine, and Gallia Club, before joining forces with Nice Sports in 1955 to become Cavigal Nice Sports. Today, it has more than 2,500 members across 13 sections. The football section alone has nearly 530 members.
An emblematic club from Nice, Cavigal Football commissioned artist Julien Alonso, himself a former player of the club, to create a mural honoring 14 of its past greats. *
“These portraits allow us to recount the strong history of the club, which has produced so many big names in French football, and also to maintain the memory for the younger generations of the club, for whom these past players can become a source of inspiration,” declared John Mammoliti, president of the football section, and Diego Noto, overall president of Cavigal, in a joint statement.
The mural can be seen at Bob Rรฉmond Stadium, located in the Saint-Roch district, considered the “temple” of this club that promotes sports, citizenship, and sociality with the aim of providing education for young people.
