A new step forward has been made for the protection of women who have suffered violence with the signing of an agreement between the CCAS and a social housing provider, Nouveau Logis Azur.

Following this agreement, 4 new housing units will be made available to accommodate women (alone or with their children), after they have been housed at the Reception Center for Women Victims of Violence.

This initiative complements the one already implemented by Cote d’Azur Habitat, which involves 5 housing units.

The issue of violence against women is unfortunately more widespread than thought;

According to Senator Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, president of Côte Azur Habitat, the largest social housing provider in the department with nearly 20,000 managed units, “the Alpes-Maritimes department is unfortunately among the top nationwide for the number of violent incidents.”

Access to independent housing is part of the reintegration process and is the final step after receiving support and assistance for moral and material reconstruction, as explained by Joëlle Martinaux, vice-president of the CCAS in Nice.

This agreement was made possible by the ‘rental intermediation’ scheme which helps the homeless*.

The officials also announced a new initiative by the municipality that plans to renovate a new building of 20 apartments located in the city, which will be operational within 2 years.
