In the framework of the 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Week (part of the national education ministry’s program since 2017, known as the “SOP”), which takes place annually, the Alpes-Maritimes departmental Olympic and sports committee will be intervening this Thursday at Piaget School in Ariane. Their goal is to promote physical and sporting activities among students and raise awareness of the Olympic and Paralympic values.

The film “Olympic Footage” will be screened for the 4th and 5th grade classes, followed by a debate led by CDOS 06 President Philippe Manassero and his team. The discussion will focus on the values of Olympism, which include excellence, respect, and friendship.

The educational community at Piaget School, under the guidance of its director, understands the importance of conveying the message of sport, the values it represents, and the necessity of engaging in at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day, as recommended by the ministry of national education, youth, and sports.

CDOS 06 has a special surprise planned for the students with the presence and intervention of Stéphane Diagana, the first French world champion in athletics (400m hurdles), who will share his experience of performance and high-level sports with them. He is also highly engaged in health sports with the CNOSF and Paris 2024.

The Rector of the Academy, Richard Laganier, will have the opportunity to engage with the champion and the students of Piaget School through his presence.

For Philippe Manassero, President of CDOS 06, utilizing sport as an educational tool, changing perceptions about disability, and awakening civic engagement through sports are part of the missions of CDOS 06 through its “Sport, Education, Citizenship” division. Sharing these values with schoolchildren during this Olympic and Paralympic Week is profoundly meaningful.
