The CDOS 06 calls for the reopening of outdoor sports facilities.

The Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee of Alpes-Maritimes has just reached out by mail to the prefect of Alpes-Maritimes, the mayors of major cities, as well as the president of the Departmental Council.

The president of the CDOS 06, Philippe Manassero, is requesting the reopening of stadiums, sports courts, outdoor pools, pétanque grounds, etc., so that amateur sports clubs can resume active life while adhering to the health guidelines established by the government.

He notes that the Minister of Sports has prohibited the practice of team sports or combat sports, but it is entirely feasible, in groups of 9 members plus 1 coach, to conduct training sessions focused on individual techniques.

Returning to one’s club to train is more than just a sporting or public health issue; it’s also about reigniting the enthusiasm for collective effort while respecting the new health regulations.

Example: In football (the member comes in uniform and with their ball), individual workshops can be created that maintain the necessary distancing. Furthermore, some indoor disciplines could be practiced in these outdoor spaces, such as fitness, hip hop dance, yoga, and karate katas, etc.

Clubs are schools of civic life and respect for established rules. Their leaders and coaches will make it a point to convey the proper messages to their members regarding learning the health and distancing rules.

For Philippe Manassero, president of the CDOS 06, “It is therefore important for the CDOS 06 to revive the sports clubs, pillars of our society, around their wonderful volunteers, leaders, and members.”
