The president of the departmental Olympic and sports committee of Alpes-Maritimes, Philippe Manassero, sent a letter to the Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes, Bernard Gonzalez, asking him to reopen the gyms, swimming pools, and ice rinks in the department.
“You were the first prefect in metropolitan France to close covered sports areas as of September 28, 2020, in response to COVID-19. Today, with the decrease in the incidence rate below the alert threshold for a few days, I am asking you, on behalf of the 70 departmental sports committees and the board of directors of CDOS 06, to be the first prefect in metropolitan France to open these covered facilities,” wrote the president of CDOS 06.
He further justified his request: “There is an urgent need, both in terms of the physical, mental, and social health of sports club members and to restore a true dynamic of regaining their members for the associations.”
The president of CDOS 06 calls for the goodwill of the State’s representative in our department within the framework of territorial strategies advocated by the Minister of Health for a resumption of a “real life” while, of course, respecting the prevailing health protocols.
