Yesterday, during its General Assembly, the CCI officially asked the government for a reduction in charges and an increase in the emergency support fund being established in our region.

For Jean-Pierre Savarino, president of the consular institution, “the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic is strongly impacting the economy, and 75% of businesses in the Côte d’Azur declare themselves greatly affected by the measures taken against the coronavirus, with a decrease in turnover for 90% of them across all sectors.”

Jean-Pierre Savarino adds: “An exceptional situation calls for exceptional measures! We ask the government, through the Minister of Economy and Finance, to deploy charge reduction measures for the affected businesses and to increase this COVID-19 emergency fund. We are ready to receive, review the applications, and manage this fund with our partners. We will jointly determine the criteria for compensation.”

To support the heavily impacted local economy, the local authorities have already announced the release of funds.

CCI Nice Côte d’Azur commends the measures already implemented, including:

Postponement of social and/or fiscal deadlines (URSSAF, taxes);
The spreading of debts with the support of the State and the Bank of France;
Obtaining or maintaining bank credit via Bpifrance, which will guarantee all treasury loans needed by businesses due to the epidemic;
Funding of employees through the partial unemployment mechanism (DIRRECTE);
Support in handling conflicts with clients or suppliers (Business Mediation).
