The Chamber of Commerce and Industry supporting cinema stakeholders

On the occasion of the European project ChlMERA, which aims to support the creative and cultural industry, a work and discussion session was held at the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) to discuss various financial support options.

As part of the festival “A Festival Is Too Short”, around a hundred professionals from the audiovisual sector gathered on Thursday at the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur CCI premises to participate in a round table on the theme of public aid and private funding.

Among various cinema stakeholders, including Raphael Benoliel, producer of the film “Les Deguns” (which reached 500,000 admissions), Valรฉrie Lepine (General Director of Film France), Stรฉphanie Payan (representing the departmental council of Alpes Maritimes), and Elena Koncke (head of cinema and audiovisual for the southern region), the goal was to address the questions of professionals in the audiovisual field. Indeed, finding necessary funding is, of course, crucial for making a film or a cultural work. Besides the contribution from private partners, the region last year released an increased aid fund of 50%, amounting to a total of 6 million euros for all projects in the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur (PACA) area. This fund helps audiovisual content creators, music and film festival organizers, and also promotes the work of imagery among young people through various events. This subsidy can also be combined with that from the departmental council, which has a total budget of โ‚ฌ300,000 for a production.

Since 2004, at the national level with the introduction of the cinema tax credit, there has been an 80% increase in expenditures related to audiovisual productions in France, allowing for the reopening of many local studios such as those at Victorine.
