The Forum of Urban Planning and Architecture of the City of Nice is hosting, until June 21, 2012, the exhibition “Nice Live My City,” the culmination of an initiative aimed at schoolchildren, showcasing the fruits of the participating classes’ work and the comments of teachers and architects.
The “Nice Live My City” operation allows schoolchildren from Nice to better understand the development of their city, its urban planning, architecture, and heritage through five sessions orchestrated by a mediator architect. These sessions include urban visits, class debates, and the production of texts and drawings reflecting the collectively experienced journey.
Since its creation, the Forum of Urban Planning and Architecture of the City of Nice has implemented mediation actions on architecture and the city within the school environment, bringing together students and teachers, who are the primary actors in this education regarding living environments. This new initiative relies on a completely revised Map Book, which serves as an educational tool for discovering the city and its many aspects: the history of Nice’s origin, its architecture and urban planning, the role of architecture and the architect, as well as the process and tools concerning sustainable developments and constructions.
