The Children’s Municipal Council encourages dialogue between the city officials and its young population, turning today’s schoolchildren into tomorrow’s citizens.
This advisory body was created to involve children in their city’s life from a young age. The 68 new councilors and their deputies were elected during the elections held on March 11 and 22, 2013, by their fellow CE2, CM1, and CM2 students from 120 public and private elementary schools in the city of Nice for a two-year term.
They will meet approximately twice a year in plenary sessions to develop projects in favor of the city and thereby attempt to improve everyone’s life.
The first session was marked by a ceremonial event that formalized the role of the councilors and their deputies as representatives of all Nice schoolchildren and as a driving force for new ideas for all the people of Nice.
