The Italy-France event at the Portovenere restaurant was a significant moment of conviviality. Although the match ended in a goalless draw, the dinner organized by the Circolo Italiano was filled with laughter, talks, and friendships among the members present. Naturally, a second evening is scheduled, with the anticipation of a third, fourth, fifth… It will be held on September 29, following the Italy-Scotland rugby match, part of the Rugby World Cup and decisive for qualifying for the quarterfinals. The event will take place at the ‘Le Bistro’ restaurant, 5 rue de France, starting at 8 PM. (Cost per person: 25 euros)

At the heart of the Circolo Italiano are Renato Tullio Ferrari and Pierluigi Fadda, two Italians settled in Nice who, despite being retired, wanted to invigorate an Italian community estimated at nearly 35,000 members. After a few months of research and investigation, the Circolo Italiano began to take shape. “We wish to offer Italians residing in Nice and the surrounding region a convivial space where they can occasionally gather around an event or a gathering. The Circolo is a widely established association in Italy, and we aim to offer this to local Italians,” stated Pier Luigi Fadda, President of the association. Through this circle, he intends to propose numerous activities such as outings, trips, Italian lessons, and also gather ideas and projects from the Italian community.

Former General Director of the newspaper Il Giorno, Pierluigi, passionate about rugby, was instrumental in forming the Italian Barbarians and many publications in the Italian rugby world. He also spent ten years at the Gazzetta dello Sport and Giornale di Brescia. Alongside him, Renato Tullio Ferrari also shares this passion as he was President of the Milan Club and a member of the Italian Rugby Federation. This former advisor to the Italian Minister of Economy was also President of the San Paolo Bank. “I greatly believe in the virtues of the association, and we will try to serve as a true link between local Italians. Besides this, we are also working on a web portal project that would gather our ideas and serve as a platform for our activities.”
