In the group of the French Team and counting towards the European Championship qualifiers, a decisive match takes place on Saturday the 17th in Glasgow between Scotland and Italy. The team that loses will have to say goodbye to qualification. The Italian community of the Circolo Italiano has therefore decided to experience this match together at the Portovenere restaurant, 12 rue Halévy (Pedestrian zone) starting at 6 p.m.
At the heart of the Circolo Italiano, Renato Tullio Ferrari and Pierluigi Fadda are two Italians settled in Nice and, although retired, the two companions wanted to invigorate an Italian community estimated at nearly 35,000 members. After a few months of research and investigations, the Circolo Italiano took shape. “We wish to offer Italians living in Nice and the region a space for conviviality, allowing them to gather from time to time around an event or a function. The Circolo is a widespread gathering space in Italy, and we want to offer that to the local transalpine residents,” Pier Luigi Fadda, the President of the association, expressed. Through this circle, he aims to offer numerous activities such as outings, trips, Italian courses, and also to gather the ideas and projects of the Italian community.
Former General Manager of the newspaper Il Giorno, Pierluigi, passionate about rugby, is at the origin of the Italian Barbarians and numerous publications in the transalpine oval world. He also spent 10 years at the Gazzetta dello Sport and the Giornale di Brescia. Alongside him, Renato Tullio Ferrari shares this same passion, having been President of the Milan Club and a member of the Italian Rugby Federation. This former advisor to the Italian Minister of Economy was also President of the San Paolo Bank. “I strongly believe in the virtues of the association and we will try to be a true bridge between local Italians. Besides this, we are also working on a web portal project that would group our ideas and serve as a platform for our activities.”
