In the framework of the International Year of Youth (Resolution 64/134), the MOSAIC Federation calls on all young people in France, regardless of their origins or religion, to participate in a free and responsible civic act.
The “Civic Flame” started on April 30 in Lille, and the closing ceremony will be on September 24 in Paris. It will be in Nice on July 16. This initiative will directly engage 50,000 young French people and inform over 1,000 political leaders about the operation.
From April 30 to September 24, 2011, a bus branded with the event’s colors will stop in 15 major French cities and their suburbs, inviting young people, through exchanges, meetings, and debates, to take ownership of their role in political decisions affecting their future.
In each city visited, the highlight will be the rekindling of the War Memorial with the Civic Flame, symbolizing intergenerational fraternity among citizens.
Dr. Marouane Bouloudhnine, National President of MOSAIC and municipal councilor delegated to youth in the city of Nice, stated:
“In this France, rich with its diversity, which, through the strength of its republican laws, guarantees everyone the respect of their rights and beliefs, we have the duty to preserve and defend the ‘living together’ legacy of those who fought for freedom, equality, and fraternity.”
