The City of Nice at the forefront of web technology

Latest News

First taken from the drawers of the Communications Department and skillfully managed by Caroline Magne-Ciotti, Scolaweb is an interactive newspaper offered to nursery and primary schools in Nice. After a full-scale test conducted last year with five pilot schools (Saint Pierre d’Arène, Von Derwies, Le Château, Rothschild, and Les Baumettes), all schools in Nice can now request it for free from municipal services. Four new schools have been included in recent weeks (Saint-Roch, Auber, Marie Joseph, and Saint Joseph) and new requests are received weekly at the town hall. “It is a wonderful tool and perfectly meets what I expected for my school and my class. We were one of the pilot schools and we are pleased to continue this year with new ideas to improve our Scolaweb,” said Christian Jacomino, who organized a conference on “digital tools at the heart of school” during which Scolaweb was presented by the deputy for education, Lauriano Azinheirinha, who is full of praise for this new school newspaper that replaces the paper version, thus integrating into a sustainable development logic.

Last Saturday, it was the brand-new Associations Portal that was inaugurated within the framework of the Associations Rendezvous by Minister-Mayor, Christian Estrosi. This portal, which already has over 900 registered associations, allows following associational news from the Azurean region through articles published directly by the associations themselves. Each association indeed has its own dedicated page where its main information is found (address, phone, email, leaders, etc.) and where it can freely communicate about its news or events via texts, photos but also videos or downloadable files. Like its big brother, the sports portal, the associations portal also has its mobile site accessible on all types of smartphones and tablets (iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Samsung Android). Around fifty associations collaborated in setting up the portal after undergoing training, enabling them to publish their information on their dedicated page, create a photo gallery, or insert their events into the associative agenda. Bernard, the communications manager for a cultural association in Nice, participated in the launch of the project: “It’s a great opportunity for our association, which doesn’t necessarily have a budget and thus the means to communicate. We had a two-hour training to learn to use the portal, and once mastered, we will use it often.”

To keep up with current trends, the two portals of sports and associations, as well as the city of Nice, recently made their entrance on Facebook with a profile and official groups (Sports Portal and Associations Portal) that replicate each of their news.

A city of Nice well integrated into the digital world, and it will not stop there, as more projects are already under consideration at the town hall, which has completely succeeded in its online evolution with just one significant regret: that the official site of the City of Nice is not yet offered in several languages like English, Italian, or Russian. For the capital of Azurean tourism, it’s a bug to fix quickly!
