The City of Nice is adorned with new decorations for a “green” Christmas.

From Place Massรฉna to Place Garibaldi, and throughout the city’s neighborhoods, the year 2011 will end on a note of enchantment and wonder thanks to the light decorations and new structures. Dreamlike settings, large-volume 3D luminous sculptures, some of which will even be animated. All this, of course, respecting the environment through lighting methods now used in many cities across France.

noel_nice.jpg The wave of lights will spread through the city starting Friday, December 2, 2011, at 5:30 PM, during the inauguration of the Christmas Village, Place Massรฉna.

The luminous enchantment will last until January 8, 2012.

Everything has been designed to delight the eyes of walkers during the year-end festivities: balls, angels, tubes, light balls, arches, large 3D luminous and animated sculptures will illuminate the sights of young and old in various locations: Place Amaryllis, Place Garibaldi, Place Gautier, Place Saint Isidore, Quai Lunel, avenue Jean Mรฉdecin, avenue Malaussรฉna, Place de la Libรฉration, avenue Borriglionne, Place Fontaine du temple, Place Goiran, Place Boyer, Cours Saleya, Place du Palais de Justice, Place Ile de Beautรฉ, Gare Thiers, rue de la Rรฉpubliqueโ€ฆ

All the light decorations are of the new generation LED (Light Emitting Diode), which offer 5 to 10 times the luminous power of old sources for 9 times less power consumption. The use of this material allows the City of Nice to continue its energy-saving initiative started last year, which has halved the economic and environmental impact of the Christmas lights.

A beautiful Christmas in perspective for all visitors to Nice, in the current trend linking ecology, economy, and pleasure.
