A call for projects has been launched by the City of Nice, which will allocate an annual financial grant of up to 40,000 euros for feature film script rewrites. The deadline for submitting applications is set for Friday, May 31, 2019.
This initiative is part of a policy for developing cinematic and audiovisual activity decided by the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi. It is also aimed at, let’s remember, rehabilitating the Victorine Studios.
Several criteria have been defined to be eligible for this grant offered by the City of Nice. First and foremost, it is aimed at both French and foreign production companies (if the production is delegated in France) that have a contract with a screenwriter or an established writer-director. This individual must have a minimum experience of at least one feature film distributed in theaters and broadcast on a national channel or a long-format audiovisual work broadcast on a national channel. This call concerns film projects, TV films, or television series.
In return, the production company commits to locate the shooting of the work in Nice for at least 10 days. The amount will therefore be awarded annually up to 40,000 euros and may also be supplemented with a residency for the author(s) for a duration of three weeks and assistance for scouting (limited to two projects per year).
Finally, it should be noted that the grant is only applicable to projects currently being rewritten or films already in production.
