“Dreams of Greece” is a new exhibition that will introduce the public to the magnificent collections of Greek vases with black and red figures and ceramics with black glaze or geometric decorations.
The wonders from the reserves of the Archaeology Museum (Cimiez site) are on display until October 2nd.
These magnificent Greek ceramics (oenochoes, kraters, amphorae, cupsโฆ) are also an opportunity to (re)discover the great civilizations of the ancient Mediterranean.
These treasures belonged to two illustrious collectors: the notable from Nice, Joseph Mayrargue, who gathered around a hundred antiquities during his many trips to Italy, and the Italian marquis Giampietro Campana, an archaeologist passionate about ancient worlds, who managed to collect, through his excavations, a set of several thousand objects.
Today, pieces from the Campana collection are preserved in various French museums and, primarily, at the Louvre Museum.
This exhibition will delight the visitor’s senses in an original way, particularly thanks to the display of reconstructed Greek objects, created by the Artesens association, which can be touched and handled for a different approach to Greek art.
