The municipality of Nice offers to remove citizens’ scrap vehicles for free.
“The service has existed since 2009, but it is not well known among the people of Nice,” stated Gael Nofri, City Councilor for Parking and Traffic, on Monday at the administrative impound lot (30 Auguste Renoir Street).
To free up spaces, the City offers to remove your car or two-wheeler for free. “Since 2009, more than 2800 vehicles have benefited from the procedure,” assures Gael Nofri.
The procedure is simple:
- go to the administrative impound lot to submit a voluntary abandonment file.

include an identity document, the vehicle’s registration certificate, and an administrative status certificate dated less than a month ago (non-pledge certificate to be printed on Internet.gouv.fr).

expect one to two weeks for the vehicle’s actual removal, with mandatory presence of the owner; a transfer certificate is given to them after about ten minutes of towing.

the vehicle is then destroyed.
