We met this young 32-year-old poet, who presented us with his first work, his first book, his first collection of poems. In his poems, the author allows a certain nostalgia for time, perhaps for a better past, to transpire. The cancer of love, illness, and breakup.
Tom Altort uses strong words to express his emotions. Some of the texts date back about ten years, while others are from today. The author spent his childhood in La Baule, then in Paris where he lived for about ten years, and since 2017 in Nice, where he works in a travel agency, an invitation to travel. Around sixty poems make up this collection.
Tom confides in us about his ambitions, a new book soon and his wish to see his texts set to music. There is the power of words, their musicality. The poet looks back at his past, his texts are a vision of his experiences, he now looks to the future. Like many, he began to tickle the muse in middle school. We revisit some of his texts.
Values, the weight of silence, stolen souls, the amused souls. We chose a quatrain:
Let the two-way mirror fall
That makes us witnesses
Of a dying society…
These three magnificent lines could illustrate the book on their own. Tom Altort poses a question: And if tomorrow didn’t exist? Because we would already be tomorrow! The collection thus takes us throughout its pages to share the universe of a poet whose verses are as many heartbeats, emotions, and invitations to share.
A poet, perhaps even a future lyricist, since music and photography are his other passions. His poetry is both a photo and music, listen to the words delight you and elevate your soul.
