The commitments of Nice Côte d’Azur in favor of clean transportation.

Latest News

One cannot deny the commitment of the Nice municipality to combat car traffic, which is the source of pollution, noise, and traffic jams with the extension of travel times.

A genuine will to reverse the trend has been planned and partially realized with the tramway (we are eagerly awaiting the doubling of the line with route number 2), the pedestrianization of certain streets, and increased strictness against motorcyclists who turn the streets into circuits or otherwise into gymkhanas.

And then, to follow through with actions to match words, a symbolic gesture is requested (one of those that is often more significant than its real importance): to see the mayor abandon his official car and move about in an electric car.

Of course, the aesthetic won’t be the same but… but…: did you know that the historic head of FIAT, Gianni Agnelli, used to impress by using a FIAT 500 driven by a chauffeur in uniform?

What chic!!!

Here is the situation:

Implementation of various concrete actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit noise pollution related to vehicle traffic:

40% of trips are currently made by tram.

This proportion should be increased thanks to:

  • the extension of line 1 between Pont Michel and Pasteur,
  • the creation of the East-West Line allowing linkage between the Administrative Center and the airport and the port of Nice, contributing to the reduction in the number of cars in the city.
  • the creation of new park-and-ride facilities,
  • the implementation of eco-fuel tests on certain Ligne d’Azur buses,
  • the promotion of cycling through the creation of a network of bike paths and the deployment of the blue bike service (1750 bikes deployed),
  • provisions in favor of parking, including a one-hour free (in 10 public parking lots),
  • NCA chosen to be one of the eight cities and urban areas to experiment with ZAPA (Priority Action Zones for Air).

The commitments of Nice Côte d’Azur in favor of electric vehicles

  • Creation of the AutoBleue service: an innovative system allowing quick rental of an electric car in self-service 24/7, available by simple reservation online, in an agency, or by phone.
  • To date, the AutoBleue service has 1067 members,
  • more than 3594 reservations made since the launch in April 2011 of the system’s first 16 stations.
  • This offer should be complemented in the coming days by the commissioning of 10 additional stations and 3 more by the end of September.

Participating in the deployment of electric cars:

  • through the provision of two electric charging stations accessible to individuals in each car-sharing station deployed in the urban community area.
  • free surface parking,
  • equipping the NCA/City of Nice fleet with clean vehicles:
  • which includes 14 electric scooters,
  • 8 industrial vehicles (type Goupil) and will soon be increased to 14,
  • and since last July, 4 Mias made available in a pool (7 more Mias expected to be delivered in the coming months)
  • support for residents living in the community territory for purchasers of electric two-wheelers:
  • an experimental device tested until the end of 2011.
