Almost one month to the day after Ineos notified its plan to acquire the “SASP Olympique Gymnaste Club de Nice Côte d’Azur” to the competition authority, the latter “authorizes the operation without particular conditions” this Wednesday.

With this step completed, the acquisition should be rapidly formalized. The transaction amount is expected to reach at — at least — 100 million euros paid by Ineos to the current majority shareholders, the Sino-Americans Chien Lee, Alex Zheng, and Paul Conway, who have held 80% of Gym’s shares since June 2016.

On July 31, Jim Ratcliffe obtained approval from the national management control department (DNCG) of the professional football league. A few days earlier, the elected representatives of the 145 employees of OGC Nice, convened by club president Gauthier Ganaye, had already given a favorable opinion on the offer from the head of the petrochemical giant Ineos.
