The Council of State annuls the municipal election of March 15 and 22, 2020. The result was contested by the outgoing mayor, Charles Scibetta.
The Council of State has just confirmed “officially and definitively” the annulment of the municipal elections in Carros in the Alpes-Maritimes.
Last February, the administrative court of Nice had already made a decision to that effect.
What led to the annulment of this election was a dispute between Yannick Bernard, who won the election with 50.34% of the votes cast against the outgoing mayor Charles Scibetta, who lost with 49.65% of the votes.
The latter denounces political maneuvering, irregularities in the campaign, and “defamatory and injurious allegations” in the satirical newspaper “Ficanas carrossois.” These incidents may have altered “the integrity of the vote.”
The residents of Carros will have to vote again to choose their mayor. Now, it is up to the Prefect to set the new dates for the election.
