The Council of State approves the implementation of the new unemployment benefits calculation starting October 1st.

The interim judge of the Council of State rejected the unions’ appeal on Friday that sought to suspend the new calculation of unemployment benefits. This appeal focused on the choice of October 1st as the date to implement the reform, an objection the judge did not consider “serious.”

Initially scheduled to come into force on July 1, 2021, the application of the new calculation rules had been suspended on June 22 by the interim judge. This decision was motivated by an employment market situation deemed unfavorable.

Since then, the Council of State has observed a favorable development, which would allow the implementation of the reform.
