The 5th edition of the “Festa de la Countéa de Nissa – Païs Gavouòt e Nissart” begins this Saturday, July 22. Cultural and sports associations from Nice are gathering to celebrate the Nice country.
The festivities spread over two days. This edition takes place in L’Escarène and this time invites Isola. The great novelty this year is the big Pilou tournament of the Festa, organized by the “Li Barbets Nissarts” association, with many events and guests in prospect.

Saturday, July 22:
11:30 AM, Opening of the ticket office, bar, and dining area
12:30 PM, Reception of the invited delegations and registration for the Grand Pilou tournament with the “Li Barbet Nissart” association
2:00 PM, Children’s workshops with BAFA supervision and the Alpine Confederation Convention (Geneva, Liguria, Nice, Piedmont, Savoy, Aosta Valley), hosted by Jean-Marc Fonseca. “Geneva-Nice: an Alpine geopolitical and economic axis in Europe,” pause at 3:00 PM followed at 3:30 PM by “A borderless territory unified by centuries of history.”
4:30 PM, Introduction to traditional dances
5:00 PM, Round table with local publishers on “The History of the County of Nice” through the publications of our editors
6:00 PM, Official opening of the “Festa de la Countéa de Nissa” in the presence of invited personalities, delegations, tribute to Bruno Lanteri, welcome of Isola, the 2017 invited village, and handover by Breil, the 2016 invited village.
6:30 PM, Aperitif offered by the L’Escarène Town Hall
7:00 PM, Dinner served at the table for those who have reserved or bought their tickets at the ticket office (€20)
Following the meal, a grand baleti with two groups (“Li Barmenk” from Piedmont in the first part and “Lu Barbalùcou” from the Pays Niçois in the second part).
Sunday, July 23:
10:00 AM, “2nd International Meetings of Real Countries” on the theme: “Language and Local Sovereignty” led by Robert-Marie Mercier
12:00 PM, “Merenda de la Festa” with musical entertainment
2:00 PM, Festa Pétanque Tournament by the “L’Escarène Pétanque” association (free pairs registration) and “2nd International Meetings of Real Countries” on the theme “Self-sufficiency and territory in transition” led by Laetitia Barriera from “Jardins Partagés de Terra Segurana”
4:30 PM, Closing of the “Festa de la Countéa de Nissa” and departure of the delegations.
