We are approaching the Christmas holidays (or alternatively Saint Lucia’s Day), days of gifts that everyone, young and old, gladly accepts to receive. But don’t they say that the pleasure is more for the one who gives than for the one who receives?

It is thus a bit in advance that Christian Estrosi has shared his generosity with the cultural world of Maralpine by presenting his plan that provides a budget of 7.5 million euros for 2017.

“In 2014 and 2015, the Region had granted 5 million and 4.7 million euros for culture in the Alpes-Maritimes,” said the President of the Region in front of all the gathered stakeholders in a symbolic location, the National Theatre of Nice. “I have been keen to restore territorial equity since my arrival.”

And so it is 7.5 million euros that have been allocated by the Region since my arrival for culture in the Alpes-Maritimes (162 different beneficiaries).

Needless to say, smiles were widespread in the face of such generosity, and people scrambled to use the pen to sign the tableau symbolizing the regional “check”.

After so many years of scarcity during which Marseille took the lion’s share, the knife has changed hands, and the gaze of the one who divides the portions now leans towards another side.

As Phil Collins’ song goes (Another Day in Paradise): “One day for you, one day for me.”

Such is life!
