La Compagnie du Barrage informs you that, in collaboration with the Guide du Routard, it is organizing its sixth literary and photographic short story contest, themed: Transsiberian.
La Compagnie du Barrage is a non-profit organization (under the 1901 French law) created in March 2005. It produces theatrical, audiovisual, and literary works and distributes them in France and abroad.
It informs all traveling writers and photographers that this year it offers a unique travel opportunity: The longest train journey one can make around the planet.
(writing and image)
The genre is open (poetry – essay – general literature – youth – science fiction – theater…). Authors have several participation options. The first, sedentary, is submitting a short story of 12,000 to 25,000 characters during the contest period, with submissions received by email at: compagniedubarrage@yahoo.fr.
The second form of participation, nomadic, involves writing your story on the mythical train: The Transsiberian. Participants will take the Transsiberian connecting Moscow (Russia) to Beijing (China) in 7 days and 6 nights, during the second half of June 2011. All author-participants take the same train in second class (kupé) or first class. They write their story during the journey. The manuscripts of the stories are then collected upon arrival at the Beijing station by a member of La Compagnie du Barrage who traveled on the same train as the author-participants.
A third form (nomadic) is intended for photographers. It involves taking photographs of the journey, indoors or outdoors, day or night, with the understanding that one of them will illustrate the cover page of the 2011 collection. At the end of their journey, each photographer can select three photographs to enter the contest.
