The “Società Dante Alighieri” is an international organization founded in Rome in 1889 with the aim of promoting the Italian language and culture worldwide. It currently unites over 500 committees in nearly 80 countries across 5 continents.

In 2005, the prestigious Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities was awarded to it.

In 2008, the new president, Catherine COLETTI, and her team restored the premises, undertook the restoration of the library consisting of 1700 volumes, created a website, and established close relations with the city’s cultural entities.

To date, the Dante Alighieri organizes 2 to 3 trips per year, conferences, and works to spread Italian culture. It is also primarily a center of excellence in teaching: now declared a Professional Training organization and PLIDA center (certification of skills accredited by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), open to everyone, it welcomes and certifies nearly 250 students per year at 6 levels both on its premises and within companies.
