The day of remembrance and the new… patriots

Latest News

On this day of commemoration and history, unfortunately, some stories made the headlines! Without necessarily making it a big deal, we must not ignore the foolishness and stupidity of certain acts. For educational purposes, here are two episodes that speak for themselvesโ€ฆ

portail.jpg The first made the headlines on television, and subsequently, in the national and local press: A woman from Nice was apprehended in Paris for challenging the President of the Republic, Franรงois Hollande, during the commemoration ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe.

The person in question is said to be a right-wing activist, Liane Dโ€™Argelier (formerly of RPF and one of the founders of Philippe Vardon’s Islamisation Basta Collective), apparently well-known in local right-wing circles (Regional press shows her alongside Jean-Francois Copรฉ) who traveled 1,000 km to self-gratify with a moment of personal glory lasting a few seconds.

The other episode occurred “closer to home” in La Brigue, where a swastika was painted by an anonymous hand on the gate of Edouard Amara’s house! Currently, no one is in a position to say whether it was an act of stupidity or a personal vendetta.

These episodes require no commentary but, unfortunately, they are just a logical consequence of populism that slides into intolerance and ends up contaminating the weakest minds.

In these times of commemoration of the end of one of the most dramatic conflicts of the 20th century, it is all the more horrible, scandalous, and shameful to engage in such despicable acts.

To the protagonist of the first episode and the perpetrator of the second, a simple piece of advice: it can be treated!
