On Sunday, May 29, 2011, the Bike Festival will take place in Nice, as in all major cities of France. In Nice, the festivities and events dedicated to the bicycle will be held on the south roadway of the Promenade des Anglais (in front of the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure).
A large sports festival that will bring together all cycling enthusiasts, from passionate cyclists to amateurs, including children and teenagers. It will allow amateur and passionate cyclists to ride in a friendly atmosphere with family or friends. There will be two routes and activities planned throughout the day.
Additionally, this year, the Transvรฉsubienne, a mountain biking event, will start from Colmiane on Sunday morning, with the finish line on the Promenade des Anglais at the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure by late morning.
The cyclotourist route: (escorted by motorcyclists)
- Departure at 9:00 AM from the Estรฉron cycle path at the Charles Albert Bridge
- 10:45 AM Arrival in Nice, south roadway of the Promenade des Anglais at the Centenaire (in front of the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure)
The family route:
Morning: Start from 9:00 AM on the south roadway in front of the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure to join the cyclosportive at Magnan. The south roadway of the Promenade des Anglais will be closed until noon for free cycling.
Afternoon: A 50-minute family route is proposed to discover the Nice cycle paths, with departures every hour between 2 PM and 6 PM from the Galion Beach (escorted by the municipal police). Each participant must come with their own equipment. Registrations on-site at the GSEM stand.
The activities:
On the southern sidewalk of the Promenade des Anglais, opposite the Centenaire monument:
- Trampoline
- Climbing wall
- Road safety course
- Bicycle initiation course
- Children’s activities
- Fitness classes at 9 AM and 11:30 AM
- Electric bicycles available from the Alpes-Maritimes General Council
- Blue bicycles available
- Freestyle MTB and stands run by bicycle professionals
Challenge for the most dynamic neighborhood:
A competition will be organized to reward the neighborhood in Nice that gathers the most participants on this bike day.
