The more contagious Delta variant could represent 90% of new contagion cases by the end of August.
The Delta variant, more contagious form of the coronavirus, continues to spread rapidly. It could account for 90% of new contagion cases by the end of August, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control warns.
It is highly likely that the Delta variant will circulate widely during the summer, particularly among young people who are not targeted by vaccination.
However, starting from July 1st, a person holding a European Covid certificate, proving they are vaccinated or negative for Covid-19, should be able to travel freely within the European area. But the 27 countries plan the possibility of reintroducing certain restrictions if the epidemiological situation worsens.
