Originally from Madagascar, Isa Rabaraona recorded her first album at the age of 14. Both music and singing are a family affair, just like for her six older siblings who formed Les SURFS, a star group during the 60s. Isa Rabaraona first experienced the stage, which quickly became her favored place, all while continuing her studies in English literature at the University of Ankatso in Antananarivo. Later, she moved to France where projects and tours followed one after another, including a concert at the Olympia in 1993. She worked on her own compositions with experienced musicians in a jazz and Brazilian music repertoire. Her meeting with Swedish guitarist Linus Olsson was decisive. Together, they participated in the Tremplin Jazz in Avignon, at the Malmöfestivalen, and the Helsingborg Jazz Festival.
Linus was born in Malmö, Sweden. He started playing the classical guitar at the age of ten. After dabbling in rock music during his adolescence, he discovered a penchant for jazz while studying at “Fridhems Folkhögskola” in Svalöv in the south of Sweden, a school specializing in jazz, Latin music, and pop with students from Sweden and Denmark.
He has worked in the Canary Islands, Florida, before settling in Nice where he won a first prize at the Conservatory, the city where he lives today.
He has played at several festivals in France: Nice, Vitrolles, Montauroux, La Gaude, Contes among others. In Sweden: Malmö, Helsingborg, and Smyge.
Inspired by modern jazz, Brazilian music, and “world music,” he forms with Isa a vibrant duo, a tasty mix of cultures that you can appreciate on the album “Infant Eyes.”
