Eric Ciotti met yesterday with the members of the Nice Nautical Club. This meeting was an opportunity for the club to present its new catamarans and RS 500s financed by the Department.
Since 1991, the Alpes-Maritimes Department has been supporting sailing, particularly through its sailing plan in which the Nice Nautical Club participates. 14 nautical bases are labeled by the Department, welcoming every year over 6,000 middle school students from 41 institutions, 200 physical education and sports teachers, as well as more than 600 people with disabilities from 50 specialized organizations.
Today, the Nice Nautical Club has 825 members, but in total, there are 2,500 participants each year with an average age of around 20 years. The CNN fully plays its educational and sporting role in Nice and contributes to the animation of the โBaie des Angesโ through the organization of many nautical events.
55% of the members practice sailing, and 32% practice rowing, with the others spread out among motorboating, jet-skiing, and swimming. The club organizes courses, responds to requests for outings from schools, high schools, or universities, leisure centers, as well as associations and corporate committees.
