Even though the overwhelming numerical superiority (52 out of 54 councilors align with the majority supporting Charles-Ange Ginésy) effectively prevents any debate and effectively turns the departmental council into a mere formality for the Ginésy-Ciotti duo’s wishes, it remains true that deliberations are necessary to give legal force to the management of this community.
Yesterday, a public session took place, and the council passed the following resolutions:
Social Action: Departmental investment support plan 2022 – 2028 for the restructuring of EHPADs with a budget of €55 million which will initially benefit 16 facilities. This plan will improve the living conditions of residents and the working conditions of the staff.
Education: The “Plan Collège Horizon 2028” anticipates a commitment of €300 million by the department to uphold a fourfold requirement:
Respond to demographics by constructing four new secondary schools;
Enhance the living environment and safety for students;
Familiarize our students with new technologies;
Integrate our schools into an ecological approach.
Environment: Creation of the local semi-public company GREEN Energy 06 dedicated to renewable energies. It will be responsible for initiating operations, participating in actions, and leveraging finance to launch renewable energy projects. It will have a budget of €11 million until 2025.
Support to Communities: Urban territory contracts horizon 2026. €150 million to support major structuring and sustainable inter-community projects and their central cities that align with Green and Smart Deal policies. Funding will be allocated as follows: €27 million for the CAPL, €11 million for the CASA, €10 million for the CAPG, and €86 million for the Metropolis (including €16 million for the city of Nice).
These grants will particularly support the following projects:
Works to connect Mathis road to the A8;
Tram line towards La Trinité and the extension of the green corridor in Nice;
Creation of two health centers in the metropolitan area;
Renovation of La Croisette and purchase of electric and hydrogen buses in Cannes;
Implementation of a high-service bus between Grasse and Mouans;
Reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plants in Gréolières and Gourdon, etc.
Cultural Heritage: Program for the preservation, enhancement, and networking of fortified heritage in the Alpes-Maritimes. This will result in a €5 million aid over 5 years for communes or associations maintaining buildings and the creation of a museum dedicated to the history of Maralpian fortifications at Fort de la Revère in Eze.
During this session, the Departmental Council also adopted the principle of an additional €700,000 subsidy in favor of the Côte d’Azur Regional Tourism Committee, to compensate for the Region’s withdrawal. Additionally, a motion was passed to ensure the sustainability of this structure, an indispensable local tool for promoting the Azur territory.
