The Department is inaugurating its 4th “senior house” in the Magnan neighborhood.

Latest News

Yesterday at the Alphonse Daudet College, right across from the new “departmental house for seniors”, the inauguration of the latter took place in the presence of Charles-Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, and Eric Ciotti, deputy.

This new house for seniors is set to be a great success. The number of seniors attending the inauguration proves it. At least a hundred were present. The Department decided to create a fourth one, following the great success of the first three (Nice-Centre, Nice-East, Nice-North), and the numerous requests from people in the Nice-West neighborhood, which is undergoing transformation. Eric Ciotti asserts: “We must help as many seniors as possible in our department (350,000 in the 06) to enjoy a fulfilling and enriching retirement while having access to numerous cultural activities (dance, cinema, hiking, visits…).”

This is what the Alpes-Maritimes Department has been achieving for 10 years now. Each year, nearly 154 million euros are allocated to the city’s seniors.

A Stunning Success

Since the creation of the first house for seniors in 2011, the demand has continued to grow. Thanks to the “seniors in action” program, initiated by Philippe Rossini, Vice-President of the Department in charge of the Elderly, in 7 years, the number of registered participants has increased from 1,114 on December 31, 2012, to nearly 23,500 registered today, with more than 4,000 new ones in 2018. Their registration allows access to a multitude of cultural and leisure activities.

“Seeing such success, the department has thus opened this new departmental house for seniors,” explains Eric Ciotti. In addition to activities, this house also allows seniors to meet with specially trained professionals who will inform, advise, and support them in all their administrative and other procedures.
