Yesterday morning, the launch of the first Connect’ 06 fair took place at the Allianz Riviera. It was an open day hosted by the Department of Alpes-Maritimes for associative, institutional, and socio-economic partners.
For the first time in its history, the Department of Alpes-Maritimes, after 158 years of existence, invited its partners yesterday to meet all the services of the local government, outside its premises. Connect’ 06 is the showcase of departmental action. “Why such an event today? To help you better know our institution,” assured Charles Ange Ginesy, President of the Department, in the preamble to his speech.
The event presented the services and actions of the collective through four themes: “Human Solidarity,” “Imagining the Future of Alpes-Maritimes Together,” “Living Well in Alpes-Maritimes,” and “Territorial Planning, Securing, Preserving, and Enhancing the Living Environment.”
“It’s also an opportunity for me to talk to you about the Department of tomorrow: with the Smart Deal, this action plan to digitize all our skills across the board and meet the needs of the territory,” added the President of the Department. The stated goal: high-speed internet available everywhere in the Department by 2019.
By the end of the year, the Department will launch its Grand Departmental Portal to allow all users to complete their processes online: applications for benefits, dossier tracking, grant tracking, and online application submission.
“I want the Department of Alpes-Maritimes to be a player in this digital transformation: we will create a House of Artificial Intelligence in the Department. By the end of the year, the President of the Smart Deal will propose an action plan to me,” added Charles Ange Ginรฉsy in front of a packed press room.
Another important announcement. In 2019, a major platform focusing on territorial knowledge, aimed at the educational world and the general public, will be created by college students and will incorporate artificial intelligence into its functioning.
Concerning the previously implemented ecological policy, the investment budget for roads will increase from 32 million euros in 2018 to 40 million in 2019. “A 25% increase that will be dedicated to respecting the environment and the quality of life for locals (…), 3 million euros will be dedicated to the necessary land acquisitions to ultimately complete the Cannes-Grasse route and ease congestion in the Grasse area! (…). After experimenting with the creation of carpool parking lots on the departmental road network in Mouans-Sartoux and Grasse, the Department will deploy the carpool parking concept throughout the department.”
Additionally, each park-and-ride will be equipped with electric charging stations to support the development of clean vehicles. Starting in 2019, 2 million euros will be allocated for this purpose.
