The Departmental Council offers, for this summer season 2021, an ambitious, rich, and varied event program to allow all culture lovers to enjoy moments of sharing with family or friends and to contribute to the influence and attractiveness of its territory.
This eclectic program will be marked by four flagship summer events: the Summer Evenings, the Festival of Words, the Jazz Art Lympia evenings, the Madness of the Lakes, and a new event: the “Our Valleys” Tour.
In total, 500 free quality performances will be offered for a summer high in culture and colors.
The 26th edition of the Summer Evenings will be held from June 25 to September 19, with 450 performances in 157 municipalities, thanks to the participation of 1,362 artists and technicians. This year, the Summer Evenings also explore a new musical offering, 10 Caps’ules, a concept highlighting the latest trends in contemporary music.
The Festival of Words, an invitation to travel through high voice readings into the imagination of major writers, will take place from July 16 to August 11, with 13 gatherings featuring renowned readers mapping these lines of sharing, poetry, and intimacy.
Jazz Art Lympia, a true open-air jazz club on the rooftop terrace of the Lympia Cultural Space in Nice, will occur every Thursday from July 15 to August 19: six musical groups from the departmental jazz scene, at the zenith of their art, will enchant a place steeped in history.
The Madness of the Lakes, a unique experience where musical pleasure is enhanced by a timeless natural setting. This summer, an ambitious and eclectic program awaits music enthusiasts!
Finally, the “Our Valleys” tour, an extension of the solidarity single created at the initiative of the Alpes-Maritimes Department after storm Alex. The collective reunites this summer for a tour in honor of the affected villages.
For Charles-Ange Ginésy, president of the Departmental Council: “Culture has been halted for many months. We know the courage of all those who resisted and continued to keep culture alive during this difficult period. It is with great pride that our community will organize these major events that will punctuate our summer.”
