The Department of Alpes-Maritimes is recruiting family assistants.

Latest News

Thanks to 353 family assistants employed by the Department of Alpes-Maritimes, 690 children are welcomed into families in our region.

However, this number of family assistants is becoming insufficient today. Indeed, the number of children entrusted, particularly those of very young age, is constantly increasing.

The need is estimated at 50 recruits of family assistants per year, while the Department recruits about 30 per year. Finally, the many retirements scheduled in the coming years indicate a challenge in renewing foster families.

What is a family assistant?

The family assistant, recruited by the Department, welcomes minors and young adults into their family whose parents cannot temporarily take care of them. They perform parental functions for children in difficulty, both day and night, every day.

How to become a family assistant?

The family assistant is approved for a renewable period of five years by the President of the Department, after an assessment of the living conditions by the medico-social teams of the Departmental Houses of Solidarity. Their professional development is ensured by a 300-hour training program, paid for by the department and provided by the IESTS. Candidates can enroll regardless of their level, as no diploma is required.

To apply, it is imperative to attend an information meeting.
