In the presence of the Chief Rabbi of France, Haïm Korsia, and Annette Cabelli, an Auschwitz survivor, Charles-Ange Ginésy, president of the Departmental Council, presented the Charles-Gottlieb awards, which recognize the work of the schools participating in the Journey of Memory. These trips are organized annually to visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp.
The goal of these departmental council memory trips is educational: to learn history so that this page never repeats itself.
It is the Valéri College of Nice that wins the first prize, with its film Passeurs de mémoire, created by the students.
Second place goes to the Maurice-Jaubert College of L’Ariane. Finally, the 3rd prize is awarded to the Frédéric-Mistral College, also in Nice.
The jury also decided to give a special prize to the Sainte-Marie-de-Chavagnes College in Cannes and the Don Bosco College in Nice.
