The Departmental Council votes on strong measures to support the local economy.

The departmental assembly aimed to deliberate on economic support across various professional and associative sectors heavily affected by the crisis resulting from the pandemic and the health-mandated lockdown that halted all activity.

The beneficiaries could only be satisfied with such generosity. After all, don’t people say that for a plant to grow well, it needs a good watering?

As a result, the physical absence of the councilors (the session was held via video conference, with only group presidents present) contributed to and facilitated smooth discussions that took place in full harmony (it is true that it is easier to agree when granting funds than when cutting back). It’s worth noting that all deliberations were voted on unanimously.

Only the socialist Marie-Louise Gourdon wanted to remind everyone that “with fewer revenues from transfer taxes due to the decrease in property transactions and more expenses due to the epidemic, the equation will not be easy.”

But that will be considered another time, when the situation returns to normal.

For Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Departmental Council of the Alpes-Maritimes:

“The drastic and necessary health measures that have affected our country since March have caused an unprecedented economic crisis in our history. It is now important to support our businesses as they exit the lockdown. The resumption of economic activity is essential, but health measures must now be taken into account.”

The deliberated aids:

Creation of a support fund for the implementation of health protocols for paramedical professionals receiving the public, totaling 5 million euros. It will take the form of a grant capped at 1,000 €.

A fund of 5 million euros intended for campings, restaurateurs, hoteliers, and beach operators to adapt their establishments to new health standards. It will take the form of a grant capped at 3,500 € on their investments.

An exceptional financial support of 1.2 million € to EHPAD and the increase of the departmental GIR point, from 6/eu to 6.20/eu

Maintaining all grants approved in 2020 to more than 500 cultural actors totaling nearly 8 million euros.

In return, they will be asked to engage with the most vulnerable audiences and in particular in EHPAD to bring culture to the elderly.

Also maintaining operating grants for all sport actors whose events could not take place during the lockdown period and who will reschedule them before the end of the year, representing a commitment of more than 1.4 million euros.
